 I am delighted to welcome you to Elula Clinic in Shijo-Karasuma. My career began at the Kyoto University Hospital Second Department of Surgery (now Hepatobiliary-Pancreatic and Transplant Surgery) and continued at Kyoto City Hospital, where I gained extensive clinical experience in general surgery, digestive diseases, hepatobiliary-pancreatic diseases, malignant diseases, chemotherapy, trauma, and nutrition.It is my pleasure to now open this clinic, specializing in Internal Medicine, Cancer Immunotherapy, Dermatology, Allergy, Regenerative Medicine, AGA, and Aesthetic Treatments. My goal is to combine the highest standards of Japanese academic medicine with personalized care for every patient, including our international guests.

    Yes, you can. Consultations are performed as self-pay medical services (not covered by Japanese insurance). We will clearly explain the expected costs before your consultation.

  • Is English support available?

    Yes, English support is available. Our staff communicates in English, and we use professional interpretation tools to ensure no language barrier.

  • Can I walk in without an appointment if I have an urgent issue?

    We strongly recommend booking in advance. If you have a sudden illness, please call or email us immediately. We will do our best to accommodate urgent issues.

  • Do you accept credit cards and mobile payments?

     Yes, we accept major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Amex, JCB, etc.). We also accept certain QR code payments, ensuring a smooth and cashless payment process.

  • Can you provide documents for my travel insurance claim?

    Yes, we can issue a detailed receipt and medical certificate necessary for submitting claims to your travel insurance company. Please inform our reception staff upon check-in.

  • I want to know the cost before my consultation. Can I get a quote?

    While exact costs depend on the doctor's findings, you can contact us with a detailed description of your issue, and we can provide an estimated range for the consultation, basic tests, and common medications.

  • Can you refill my essential medication if I lost or ran out?

    We will do our best to assist, but note that prescribing all international medications is subject to Japanese pharmaceutical regulations. Please bring documentation about your medication.

  • Do I have to pick up my prescription at a Japanese pharmacy?

    For some common travel-related medications, we may be able to dispense them directly at the clinic. For external prescriptions, we will guide you to a nearby pharmacy.

  • Can you prescribe medication for chronic conditions (e.g., diabetes) for my entire trip?

    We provide temporary care appropriate for your stay in Japan. We will prescribe medication based on the length of your trip, but the amount is subject to Japanese regulations.

  • Do you treat children (pediatric patients)?

    Our clinic focuses on adult Internal Medicine and Dermatology, but we may see older children for common ailments. For infants and young children, we recommend a dedicated pediatric clinic.

  • I don't know the Japanese name of my ailment. How should I describe my symptoms?

    Simply describe your symptoms as clearly as possible in English. Visual aids or translating the name of your condition beforehand can also be helpful.

  • Do you perform procedures like stitching for minor cuts?

    Yes, we handle minor surgical issues such as cleaning and dressing minor wounds, removing foreign bodies (splinters), and providing initial care for small cuts.

  • I need a sick note (a note for work/school) from the doctor. Can you provide one?

    Yes, we can issue a medical certificate (sick note) if the doctor deems it necessary for your condition. Please request this at the time of your consultation.

  • If I get sick on a Monday, can I visit?

    Please note that our clinic is closed every Monday. For urgent care on Mondays, please contact the Kyoto Emergency Medical Information Center for the nearest open facility.

  • Is the clinic easily accessible from major Kyoto tourist attractions?

    Yes, we are conveniently located just a few minutes' walk from Shijo and Karasuma Stations, making it ideal for a visit before or after sightseeing.

  • Where can I find an emergency hospital nearby if the clinic is closed?

     For life-threatening emergencies, please dial 119 (Ambulance). For urgent care outside our hours, contact the Kyoto Emergency Medical Information Center for directions to the nearest open hospital.

  • I have a chronic condition. Should I see a specialist in Japan?

    For acute travel-related issues, our GP is your best starting point. For ongoing management of chronic conditions, we recommend consulting a specialist in your home country, but we can provide temporary supportive care.
